After three years in civil engineering, I went to Teacher Training College to train as a woodwork and art teacher.  Left teaching after 2 years to work as a carpenter and started various businesses in carpentry and furniture making.  Ended up with a small upholstery and antique restoration business with 8 craftsmen and support staff, doing sales and estimating and paying other people to do the bits that I enjoyed!!!

Came across a Leather Master stand at a TRADE show in the early 90’s and saw it as a useful addition to the existing re-upholstery and restoration services and a possible way back to the bench.

Five years on decided that the leather side of the business held better prospects.  Formed a US subsidiary and took on the contract for the technical and colour mixing for the recently formed Leather Master distribution in North Carolina USA.

Spent the next three years helping to resolve manufacturers, retailers, and consumer problems for Leather Master while running a service technician business.  This eventually evolved into training the growing number of existing service technicians who were being called on to service the growing amount of leather in the domestic and warranty market.

Returned to the UK after 3 years and connected with Multimaster (Leathermaster) to offer the same service of technical training and back up that the warranty market was creating a demand for.

My partner Judy Bass and I formed LTT Ltd (The Leather Training & Technical Dept) as an independent company and extended our market into the cleaning sector of the industry.  I took the NCCA certification exam in carpet and upholstery cleaning and IICRC exams in UFT and LCT, fulfilling the criteria required to become the first UK IICRC instructor for LCT.

Alongside the training facility at LTT I also run the technical department working for TRADE and domestic clients offering cleaning, repair and restoration, colour mixing, and specialist leather finishing.  This hands on time enables LTT to research methods and products to ensure we continually offer the best training possible and also allow us to test products many of which will find their way into our product range.
